Linseed Oil Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average linseed oil export price amounted to $2,828 per ton, rising by 4.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 22% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $3,496 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Brazil ($6,500 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($2,195 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Linseed Oil Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average linseed oil import price amounted to $3,338 per ton, increasing by 7.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 117% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $5,749 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($6,622 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($1,164 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+46.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Linseed Oil Exports in the United States
In 2022, shipments abroad of linseed oil decreased by -38.5% to 3.9K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 171% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 7.9K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, linseed oil exports shrank rapidly to $11M in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 145% against the previous year.

Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate significant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
