Hardboard Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2023
In October 2023, the average hardboard import price amounted to $690 per thousand cubic meters, declining by -4.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 14% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $754 per thousand cubic meters in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($735 per thousand cubic meters), while the price for France ($279 per thousand cubic meters) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Hardboard Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2023
In October 2023, the average hardboard export price amounted to $553 per thousand cubic meters, reducing by -4.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 16% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $700 per thousand cubic meters in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($1.0 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Greece ($406 per thousand cubic meters) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Hardboard Imports in Serbia
In 2022, overseas purchases of hardboard decreased by -7.5% to 26K cubic meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 19%. Imports peaked at 29K cubic meters in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, hardboard imports amounted to $17M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +62.5% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 25%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Hardboard Exports in Serbia
For the third year in a row, Serbia recorded decline in shipments abroad of hardboard, which decreased by -31.6% to 12K cubic meters in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a abrupt downturn. The smallest decline of -6.7% was in 2020. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 20K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, hardboard exports contracted to $6.7M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 3.8% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $6.7M, leveling off in the following year.
