Hardboard Price in Latvia (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average hardboard import price amounted to $994 per cubic meter, rising by 17% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 49% against the previous month. The import price peaked in September 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,049 per cubic meter), while the price for Ukraine ($439 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Hardboard Price in Latvia (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average hardboard export price amounted to $797 per cubic meter, reducing by -4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 14% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $976 per cubic meter in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Estonia ($1,470 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Canada ($704 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Hardboard Imports in Latvia

In 2022, purchases abroad of hardboard decreased by -15.1% to 18K cubic meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 52%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 21K cubic meters, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, hardboard imports reduced to $11M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +51.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 61%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $12M, and then dropped in the following year.
