In September 2023, the average hardboard import price amounted to $838 per cubic meter, jumping by 26% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($1,835 per cubic meter), while the price for Thailand ($473 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average hardboard export price stood at $1,086 per cubic meter in September 2023, with a decrease of -21.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average export price increased by 83% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,385 per cubic meter in August 2023, and then fell rapidly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Finland ($1,728 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($1,000 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
