Glutamic Acid Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
The average glutamic acid export price stood at $1,535 per ton in 2022, growing by 2.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 11%. The export price peaked at $1,829 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,919 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($926 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Glutamic Acid Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
The average glutamic acid import price stood at $1,455 per ton in 2022, declining by -2.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,497 per ton in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lao People's Democratic Republic ($1,765 per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($259 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Glutamic Acid Exports in Vietnam
In 2022, exports of glutamic acid and its salts from Vietnam totaled 58K tons, approximately equating the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 5.3% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 69K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, glutamic acid exports rose modestly to $89M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild decrease.

Glutamic Acid Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, purchases abroad of glutamic acid and its salts was finally on the rise to reach 67K tons after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a deep reduction.
In value terms, glutamic acid imports rose notably to $98M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable decrease.
