Glass Fiber Price in Romania (CIF) - 2022

The average glass fiber import price stood at $2,486 per ton in 2022, increasing by 15% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, glass fiber import price increased by +75.0% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($7,337 per ton), while the price for Russia ($808 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Glass Fiber Price in Romania (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average glass fiber export price amounted to $1,808 per ton, surging by 2.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 112%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $5,123 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,983 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($938 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Glass Fiber Imports in Romania

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of voiles, webs, mats and other articles of glass fibers increased by 8.2% to 20K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, glass fiber imports surged to $49M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +54.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of voiles, webs, mats and other articles of glass fibers, when their volume decreased by -2.4% to 12K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 14%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 13K tons, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

In value terms, glass fiber exports amounted to $23M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
