Ghee Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average ghee import price amounted to $9,062 per ton, waning by -4.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ghee import price increased by +45.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 70% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $9,462 per ton in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($9,937 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($8,918 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+6.0%).

The average ghee export price stood at $6,687 per ton in September 2023, leveling off at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.7% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $7,944 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Montenegro ($8,732 per ton) and Croatia ($6,556 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($6,328 per ton) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($6,381 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to North Macedonia (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Ghee Imports in Serbia
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of ghee increased by 27,640% to 573 tons in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a significant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
