Ghee Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average ghee export price amounted to $7,750 per ton, flattening at the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 6.5% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $8,965 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($10,296 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($5,843 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ghee Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average ghee import price amounted to $7,004 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 9.7% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $8,754 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Belgium ($7,456 per ton) and Ireland ($7,188 per ton), while the price for Poland ($6,466 per ton) and France ($6,810 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Ghee Exports in Germany
In 2022, the amount of ghee exported from Germany reached 24K tons, picking up by 3% on the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, ghee exports skyrocketed to $192M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +79.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Ghee Imports in Germany
In 2022, purchases abroad of ghee decreased by -6.8% to 19K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports showed a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 0.9% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 21K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, ghee imports soared to $152M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
