Eggplant Price in Ireland (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average eggplant import price amounted to $1,864 per ton, shrinking by -14% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 33% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,424 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($3,436 per ton), while the price for Spain ($1,109 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kenya (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average eggplant export price stood at $2,250 per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 97% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $3,315 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the UK.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Netherlands amounted to +1.5% per year.
