Date Price in Tunisia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average date export price amounted to $2,290 per ton, with an increase of 7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 19%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,630 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,631 per ton), while the average price for exports to Libya ($274 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average date import price amounted to $2,362 per ton, rising by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 11%. The import price peaked at $3,013 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($5,885 per ton), while the price for Malta ($129 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Date Exports in Tunisia
In 2022, approx. 119K tons of dates were exported from Tunisia; therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 9.7%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 120K tons, leveling off in the following year.
