The average cereals; millet, seed import price stood at $776 per ton in 2022, picking up by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 93% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kenya ($3,908 per ton), while the price for Tanzania ($730 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+32.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 42% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $313 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Burundi (+43.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
