Asparagus Price in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average asparagus import price amounted to $3,563 per ton, reducing by -7.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2022 when the average import price increased by 41% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $9,224 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($10,659 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($2,094 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Asparagus Price in the Czech Republic (FOB) - 2023
The average asparagus export price stood at $5,824 per ton in June 2023, surging by 23% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2022 when the average export price increased by 164% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $11,244 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($5,817 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia stood at $5,769 per ton.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+3.0%).
Asparagus Imports in the Czech Republic
In 2022, overseas purchases of asparagus decreased by -10% to 447 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 9.9%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 526 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, asparagus imports fell markedly to $2M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +26.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 46%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $2.5M, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Asparagus Exports in the Czech Republic
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of asparagus decreased by -6.7% to 53 tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 94%.
In value terms, asparagus exports dropped to $292K in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 93% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $317K, and then contracted in the following year.
