The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, domestic appliances exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Maldives (X units), Singapore (X units) and Bangladesh (X units) were the main destinations of domestic appliances exports from Sri Lanka, together accounting for X% of total exports. Lebanon, the UK, Australia and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Ukraine (with a CAGR of +X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Bangladesh ($X), Singapore ($X) and Maldives ($X) were the largest markets for domestic appliances exported from Sri Lanka worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. Ukraine, the UK, Lebanon and Australia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X, with a CAGR of +X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average domestic appliances export price amounted to $X per unit, picking up by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Lebanon ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of domestic appliances was finally on the rise to reach X units after four years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, domestic appliances imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of domestic appliances to Sri Lanka, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, domestic appliances imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X units), twofold. Thailand (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (-X% per year) and Thailand (-X% per year).

The average domestic appliances import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by X% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
