The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Canada (X units), Mexico (X units) and South Korea (X units) were the main destinations of domestic appliances exports from the United States, together comprising 63% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for South Korea (with a CAGR of +17.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for domestic appliances exports from the United States, comprising 52% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 4.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Canada amounted to +1.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+7.6% per year) and Belgium (+5.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average domestic appliances export price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -3.4% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, domestic appliances export price increased by +71.6% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 51%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+19.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the U.S.

In 2021, approx. X units of domestic appliances were imported into the United States; growing by 19% against the previous year's figure. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +85.0% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Moreover, domestic appliances imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mexico (X units), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Vietnam (X units), with a 4.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +8.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mexico (-0.1% per year) and Vietnam (+41.8% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of domestic appliances to the United States, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 4.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +6.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mexico (+6.4% per year) and Thailand (+25.7% per year).

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 7.1% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
