Exports from Slovakia
After two years of growth, shipments abroad of bentonite decreased by -X% to X tons in 2019. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Slovakia exports peaked at X tons in 2018, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, bentonite exports fell to $X in 2019. Overall, total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2007 to 2019: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last twelve years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2019 figures, exports increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Slovakia exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2019, exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2019, India (X tons), distantly followed by the U.S. (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Italy (X tons) and China (X tons) represented the major exporters of bentonite, together comprising X% of total exports. The following exporters - Azerbaijan (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Greece (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.
From 2007 to 2019, the biggest increases were in Greece, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest bentonite supplying countries from Slovakia were the U.S. ($X), Turkey ($X) and India ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports.
Turkey recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The bentonite export price in Slovakia stood at $X per ton in 2019, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a mild reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2009 when the export price increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2019, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Italy (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

In 2019, the bentonite import price in Slovakia amounted to $X per ton, flattening at the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2009 to 2019, the growth in terms of the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
