Plywood Market Size in Saudi Arabia

In 2020, the Saudi plywood market increased by X% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, consumption saw a temperate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Plywood consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2020, overseas shipments of plywood decreased by -X% to X cubic meters, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2009 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, exports reached the peak of X cubic meters. from 2010 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plywood exports shrank dramatically to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 with an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, exports reached the peak of $X. from 2010 to 2020, the growth exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X cubic meters), Kuwait (X cubic meters) and Bahrain (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of plywood exports from Saudi Arabia, with a combined X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Kuwait, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Kuwait ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Bahrain ($X) constituted the largest markets for plywood exported from Saudi Arabia worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, Kuwait recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average plywood export price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2020, rising by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. The export price peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bahrain, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2020, overseas purchases of plywood increased by X% to X cubic meters, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports posted prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X cubic meters. from 2013 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plywood imports surged to $X in 2020. Overall, imports enjoyed a notable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2020, China (X cubic meters) was the main supplier of plywood to Saudi Arabia, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, plywood imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Indonesia (X cubic meters), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Malaysia (X cubic meters), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+X% per year) and Malaysia (+X% per year).

In value terms, the largest plywood suppliers to Saudi Arabia were China ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Russia ($X), together comprising X% of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Russia recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average plywood import price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2020, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of X% y-o-y. The import price peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2020, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Indonesia ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
