Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cucumber and gherkin exports stood at $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 883%. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Kuwait (X kg) was the main destination for cucumber and gherkin exports from the Philippines, accounting for a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, cucumber and gherkin exports to Kuwait exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Bahrain (X kg), twofold. The United States (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 20% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Kuwait amounted to +4.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+4.9% per year) and Bahrain (-20.0% per year).

The average cucumber and gherkin export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -10.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 23% against the previous year.
