Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep downturn. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Mexico was the key exporter of quilted textile products in the piece (excluding embroidery) in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near 57% of total exports in 2021. The Dominican Republic (X tons) took a 15% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Chile (10%) and Colombia (7.1%). The following exporters - Brazil (X tons), Panama (X tons) and Paraguay (X tons) - together made up 9.1% of total exports.

Exports from Mexico decreased at an average annual rate of -2.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Dominican Republic (+13.2%), Panama (+8.3%) and Paraguay (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Dominican Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of +13.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Brazil (-4.2%), Chile (-5.4%) and Colombia (-16.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Panama and Chile increased by +22, +13, +2.2 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest quilted textile products supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Brazil ($X), with a 6.5% share of total exports. It was followed by the Dominican Republic, with a 6.1% share.

In Mexico, quilted textile products exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Brazil (-3.7% per year) and the Dominican Republic (+16.2% per year).
