Exports by Country

China prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 60% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United States (X tons), making up a 6.1% share of total exports. South Korea (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Italy (X tons), Turkey (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to quilted textile products exports from China stood at +15.8%. At the same time, South Korea (+21.3%), Bulgaria (+10.6%), Italy (+10.5%), the Netherlands (+9.3%), Malaysia (+6.7%) and Belgium (+6.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, South Korea emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +21.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, the United States (-1.7%), Turkey (-7.3%), Poland (-7.4%) and Slovakia (-16.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+42 p.p.), Belgium (+2.9 p.p.), South Korea (+2.5 p.p.), Italy (+2.4 p.p.), the Netherlands (+1.7 p.p.), Slovakia (+1.7 p.p.), Poland (+1.7 p.p.) and Bulgaria (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2021, the share of the United States (-1.8 p.p.) and Turkey (-2.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest quilted textile products supplier worldwide, comprising 40% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 7.5% share of global exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 7.3% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China totaled +15.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+32.3% per year) and the United States (-3.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average quilted textile products export price amounted to $X per ton, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 23%. The global export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -10.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 30%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of global imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, quilted textile products imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Egypt (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the major importers of quilted textile products in the piece (excluding embroidery) in 2021, recording near 16% and 12% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Brazil (X tons) and Morocco (X tons), together constituting a 12% share of total imports. Peru (X tons), Mexico (X tons), Bangladesh (X tons), Ukraine (X tons), China (X tons), Spain (X tons), Croatia (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
