Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2019, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, bentonite exports surged to $X in 2019. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2019, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2019, India (X tons), distantly followed by the U.S. (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Italy (X tons) and China (X tons) represented the major exporters of bentonite, together creating X% of total exports. Slovakia (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Greece (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2019, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Greece, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2019 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

The countries with the highest levels of bentonite imports in 2019 were Germany (X tons), Canada (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Poland (X tons), Russia (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Thailand (X tons), the UK (X tons), Japan (X tons) and France (X tons), together amounting to X% of total import. These countries were followed by Japan, Thailand, France, the UK, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Russia, Malaysia and Italy, which together accounted for a further X saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The bentonite import price in Hungary stood at $X per ton in 2019, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a noticeable decrease.
