Quicklime Market Size in GCC

The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, the amount of quicklime imported in GCC declined modestly to X tons, waning by -3.5% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 124% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, quicklime imports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 140%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

Oman was the largest importer of quicklime in GCC, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 59% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Bahrain (X tons), making up a 36% share of total imports. The following importers - Kuwait (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) - each reached a 4.3% share of total imports.
