Portugal (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the Netherlands (X tons), Spain (X tons), Germany (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Croatia (X tons). All these countries together held near 48% share of total exports.

Exports from Poland increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Netherlands (+22.0%), Croatia (+18.6%), Portugal (+16.8%), Spain (+5.3%) and Germany (+3.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +22.0% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Belgium (-6.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+7.3 p.p.), Portugal (+7.3 p.p.) and Croatia (+3.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Belgium saw its share reduced by -9.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest wood charcoal supplying countries in the European Union were Poland ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Germany ($X), together comprising 66% of total exports. Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Croatia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.

Portugal, with a CAGR of +21.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 5.7% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Portugal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
