Grapefruit Market Size in the Czech Republic

For the third consecutive year, the Czech grapefruit market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by X% to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Grapefruit consumption peaked at $X in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from the Czech Republic

In 2020, overseas shipments of grapefruits increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, exports continue to indicate perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, grapefruit exports rose remarkably to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Slovakia (X tonnes), Poland (X tonnes) and Hungary (X tonnes) were the main destinations of grapefruit exports from the Czech Republic, with a combined X% share of total exports. Romania, Bulgaria and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Netherlands (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for grapefruit exported from the Czech Republic were Slovakia ($X), Hungary ($X) and Poland ($X), together accounting for X% of total exports. Romania, Bulgaria and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X the main countries of destination, the Netherlands (+X% per year) saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average grapefruit export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the last thirteen years, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 an increase of X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2010; however, from 2011 to 2020, export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Romania ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Czech Republic

Grapefruit imports into the Czech Republic amounted to X tonnes in 2020, picking up by X% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, grapefruit imports totaled $X in 2020.
