Plywood Market Size in CIS

The CIS plywood market reached $X in 2020, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when the market value increased by X% year-to-year. In 2020, after two years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of plywood, when their volume decreased by -X% to X cubic meters. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports reached the maximum at X cubic meters in 2019, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, plywood exports dropped to $X in 2020. Total exports indicated pronounced growth from 2007 to 2020: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, exports decreased by -X% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Russia represented the key exporting country with an export of about X cubic meters, which recorded X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X cubic meters), committing a X% share of total exports.

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020. At the same time, Belarus (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. While the share of Belarus (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2007-2020, the share of Russia (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest plywood supplier in the CIS, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Belarus ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

For the third consecutive year, the CIS recorded decline in overseas purchases of plywood, which decreased by -X% to X cubic meters in 2020. Total imports indicated mild growth from 2007 to 2020: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2020 figures, imports decreased by -X% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X cubic meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, plywood imports fell to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Azerbaijan (X cubic meters), Kazakhstan (X cubic meters), Uzbekistan (X cubic meters) and Russia (X cubic meters) represented roughly X% of total imports of plywood in 2020. It was distantly followed by Tajikistan (X cubic meters), making up a X% share of total imports. The following importers - Moldova (X cubic meters) and Kyrgyzstan (X cubic meters) - together made up X% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Tajikistan, while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest plywood importing markets in the CIS were Azerbaijan ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Russia ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports. Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X terms of the main importing countries, Tajikistan saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The plywood import price in the CIS stood at $X per cubic meter in 2020, with a decrease of -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per cubic meter), while Azerbaijan ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
