Perfume Market Size in China

In 2020, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the Chinese perfume market, when its value decreased by -X% to $X. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Perfume consumption peaked at $X in 2019, and then dropped in the following year.

The United Arab Emirates, Haiti, Morocco, Chile, Spain, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Australia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Chile (+X% per year), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the U.S. ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the UK ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for perfume exported from China worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates, Haiti, the Philippines, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Chile and Morocco lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X terms of the main countries of destination, Chile (+X% per year) recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average perfume export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, picking up by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of X% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2020 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, supplies from abroad of perfumes and toilet waters decreased by -X% to X tonnes, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, perfume imports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a significant expansion.
