Over the period under review, exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.
Exports by Country
Morocco (X tonnes) was the main destination for sulphur exports from Canada, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, sulphur exports to Morocco exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, China (X tonnes), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Australia (X tonnes), with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Morocco amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (-X% per year) and Australia (+X% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for sulphur exported from Canada were China ($X), Cuba ($X) and Chile ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports.
Chile saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average sulphur export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, dropping by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, export price reached the peak level of $X per tonne. from 2013 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices failed to regain the momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Cuba ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cuba, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of sulphur (sublimed or precipitated) and colloidal sulphur, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tonnes, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
In value terms, sulphur imports contracted to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2020, the U.S. (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of sulphur to Canada, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, sulphur imports from the U.S. exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tonnes), twofold. India (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the U.S. amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+X% per year) and India (+X% per year).
