In value terms, sulphur exports shrank markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2020, Iran (X tonnes), distantly followed by India (X tonnes), Turkey (X tonnes), Saudi Arabia (X tonnes) and Indonesia (X tonnes) represented the largest exporters of sulphur (sublimed or precipitated) and colloidal sulphur, together achieving X% of total exports. The following exporters - Singapore (X tonnes), Bahrain (X tonnes) and South Korea (X tonnes) - each accounted for a X% share of total exports.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export prices reached the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per tonne), while Turkey ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
