In general, exports, however, showed noticeable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. The volume of export peaked at X tonnes in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.
In value terms, sulphur exports shrank markedly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2020, Iran (X tonnes), distantly followed by India (X tonnes), Turkey (X tonnes), Saudi Arabia (X tonnes) and Indonesia (X tonnes) represented the largest exporters of sulphur (sublimed or precipitated) and colloidal sulphur, together achieving X% of total exports. The following exporters - Singapore (X tonnes), Bahrain (X tonnes) and South Korea (X tonnes) - each accounted for a X% share of total exports.
From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Indonesia (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest sulphur supplying countries in Asia were Iran ($X), India ($X) and Bahrain ($X), together comprising X% of total exports. Singapore, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X (+X% per year) recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The sulphur export price in Asia stood at $X per tonne in 2020, which is down by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export prices reached the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per tonne), while Turkey ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia
In 2020, sulphur imports in Asia dropped to X tonnes, with a decrease of -X% compared with 2019 figures. Overall, imports, however, posted a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sulphur imports fell rapidly to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Indonesia prevails in sulphur imports structure, reaching X tonnes, which was near X% of total imports in 2020. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tonnes), achieving a X% share of total imports. Japan (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2007 to 2020, average annual rates of growth with regard to sulphur imports into Indonesia stood at +X%. At the same time, Thailand (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2020. By contrast, Japan (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Indonesia (+X p.p.) and Thailand (+X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Japan saw its share reduced by -X% from 2007 to 2020, respectively.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per tonne), while Indonesia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
