In value terms, unmanufactured tobacco exports fell to $X in 2020. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

India (X tonnes) and China (X tonnes) represented the largest exporters of tobacco (unmanufactured) in 2020, resulting at near X% and X% of total exports, respectively. Turkey (X tonnes) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by the Philippines (X%) and Indonesia (X%). Bangladesh (X tonnes), Sri Lanka (X tonnes), Japan (X tonnes), Pakistan (X tonnes) and Thailand (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Bangladesh, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period from 2007 to 2020, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2009 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, export prices reached the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.
