Toy Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023
The average toy import price stood at $12,316 per ton in June 2023, reducing by -6.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 7.6% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $14,024 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($30,121 per ton), while the price for China ($11,166 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Toy Price in the UK (FOB) - 2023
The average toy export price stood at $25,701 per ton in June 2023, increasing by 4.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 18% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $28,068 per ton. From January 2023 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($66,752 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($11,107 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Toy Imports in the UK
In 2022, imports of dolls and toys into the UK reduced to 251K tons, dropping by -3.4% on 2021 figures. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 1.7% against the previous year.
In value terms, toy imports rose markedly to $3.2B in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
