Spice Price in Romania (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average spice import price amounted to $3,763 per ton, dropping by -10.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 19%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,008 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($7,214 per ton), while the price for Bulgaria ($970 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+19.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spice Price in Romania (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average spice export price amounted to $4,221 per ton, waning by -17.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 96% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $5,097 per ton in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($17,205 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($675 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+32.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spice Imports in Romania
Spice imports into Romania expanded markedly to 10K tons in 2022, growing by 7.7% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 15%.
