Spice Price in Israel (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average spice import price amounted to $3,961 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 20%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($13,488 per ton), while the price for the UK ($1,822 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spice Price in Israel (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average spice export price amounted to $4,446 per ton, increasing by 22% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a mild downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 29%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $5,034 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,539 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,438 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spice Imports in Israel
For the fourth consecutive year, Israel recorded growth in overseas purchases of spices, which increased by 15% to 12K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, spice imports soared to $49M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +76.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 35%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
