Spice Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2022
The average spice export price stood at $1,277 per ton in 2022, picking up by 4.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, spice export price increased by +67.3% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 69% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,339 per ton in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,060 per ton), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($888 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Algeria (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spice Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average spice import price amounted to $2,935 per ton, rising by 2.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 35%. The import price peaked at $3,300 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($12,695 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,472 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by North Macedonia (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spice Exports in Bulgaria
In 2022, approx. 19K tons of spices were exported from Bulgaria; waning by -13% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports saw a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 9.8%.
