Sorghum Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022
The average sorghum export price stood at $315 per ton in 2022, growing by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 180%. The export price peaked at $3,018 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($440 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($269 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sorghum Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average sorghum import price amounted to $1,968 per ton, with an increase of 15% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a notable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 173% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,188 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($4,711 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($325 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+20.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sorghum Exports in Hungary
In 2022, shipments abroad of sorghum decreased by -28.9% to 33K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1,278% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 61K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, sorghum exports fell slightly to $10M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 172%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $12M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, sorghum imports rose sharply to $1.4M in 2022. In general, imports faced a abrupt slump.
