Refined Soybean Oil Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
The average refined soybean oil import price stood at $1,279 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -12% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a mild decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 43% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,517 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Russia ($1,313 per ton) and Thailand ($1,313 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($967 per ton) and China ($1,303 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Refined Soybean Oil Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average refined soybean oil export price amounted to $1,282 per ton, reducing by -14.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 44% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,523 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Lao People's Democratic Republic ($1,418 per ton) and Japan ($1,418 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($946 per ton) and Malaysia ($981 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Refined Soybean Oil Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, overseas purchases of refined soybean oil and its fractions decreased by -16.7% to 15K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +48.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 50%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 18K tons, and then fell notably in the following year.
In value terms, refined soybean oil imports fell notably to $19M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 114%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $26M, and then plummeted in the following year.
