Global soybean oil exports amounted to 12,746 thousand tonnes in 2015, picking up by +24.3% against the previous year level. Overall, the global soybean oil exports indicated a moderate growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +0.7% over the last eight years.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015, when the output figure increased by +24% from the previous year level. In that year, the global soybean oil exports reached its maximum volume, and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, global exports amounted to $9,275 million in 2015. Overall, the value of global exports increased moderately from 2007 to 2015, expanding at an average annual rate of +0.5%. This trend pattern, however, indicated relatively mild fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.

Soybean Oil Imports By Country

The country with the largest volume of the soybean oil exports in absolute volumes was Argentina (5,599 thousand tonnes), accounting for 44% of global exports. It was followed by Brazil (1,670 thousand tonnes), with a share of 13% of global exports. Moreover, soybean oil exports in Argentina exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest exporter, Brazil, threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by the United States with a share of 8%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of soybean oil exports in Argentina stood at -1.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual growth rates: Brazil (-4.1% per year) and the United States (+1.1% per year).

In value terms, the country with the largest volume of exports of soybean oil in absolute volumes was Argentina (3,815 million USD), making up 41% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Brazil (1,154 million USD), with a share of 12% of global exports. Moreover, soybean oil exports in Argentina exceeded the figures recorded by the world's second largest importer, Brazil (1,154 million USD), threefold. It was followed by the United States with a share of 9%.

From 2007 to 2015, an average annual growth rate of soybean oil exports in Argentina was at -1.8%. The remaining exporting countries experienced the following average annual growth rates: Brazil (-4.9% per year) and the United States (+1.3% per year).
