Crude Soybean Oil Market Size in Vietnam

After three years of growth, the Vietnamese crude soybean oil market decreased by -X% to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, consumption showed a perceptible decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, crude soybean oil exports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep slump. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

South Korea (X tonnes) was the main destination for crude soybean oil exports from Viet Nam, with a approx. X% share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to South Korea totaled -X%.

In value terms, South Korea ($X) also remains the key foreign market for crude soybean oil exports from Viet Nam.

In 2020, the average crude soybean oil export price amounted to $X per tonne, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for South Korea.

From 2007 to 2020, the rate of growth in terms of prices for South Korea amounted to -X% per year.

In 2020, supplies from abroad of crude soybean oil increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tonnes. from 2009 to 2020, the growth imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, crude soybean oil imports soared to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a slight increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Argentina (X tonnes), Thailand (X tonnes) and Brazil (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of crude soybean oil imports to Viet Nam, with a combined X% share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Thailand, while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Argentina ($X), Thailand ($X) and Brazil ($X) were the largest crude soybean oil suppliers to Viet Nam, with a combined X% share of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Thailand saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2020, the average crude soybean oil import price amounted to $X per tonne, increasing by X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2008 when the average import price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($X per tonne), while the price for Thailand ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
