Rabbit Meat Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average rabbit meat export price amounted to $9,261 per ton, increasing by 8.6% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a slight expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, rabbit meat export price decreased by -2.2% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 270% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $9,467 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($18,577 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($6,949 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Rabbit Meat Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average rabbit meat import price amounted to $8,053 per ton, declining by -6.9% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a slight expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, rabbit meat import price increased by +58.3% against February 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 40% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $8,647 per ton in June 2023, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($9,876 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($5,193 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Rabbit Meat Exports in the Netherlands
In 2022, exports of rabbit or hare meat from the Netherlands skyrocketed to 1.1K tons, rising by 39% against the year before. Overall, total exports indicated a pronounced increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +63.8% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, rabbit meat exports fell sharply to $5.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 23% against the previous year.
