Rabbit Meat Price in Latvia (CIF) - 2022

The average rabbit meat import price stood at $6,261 per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 35%. The import price peaked at $7,630 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from France ($7,703 per ton) and the Netherlands ($6,722 per ton), while the price for Estonia ($5,382 per ton) and Poland ($5,881 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average rabbit meat export price amounted to $7,777 per ton, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $7,939 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($7,864 per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia totaled $7,313 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Rabbit Meat Imports in Latvia

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of rabbit or hare meat, when their volume decreased by -64.2% to 30 tons. In general, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 63%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 85 tons, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

In value terms, rabbit meat imports dropped notably to $190K in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt contraction.
