Pumpkin Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average pumpkin export price amounted to $949 per ton, picking up by 3.9% against the previous month. Over the last seven-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +5.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 24% month-to-month. The export price peaked in July 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($1,524 per ton), while the average price for exports to Israel ($486 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pumpkin Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
The average pumpkin import price stood at $1,042 per ton in 2022, growing by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 55%. The import price peaked at $3,019 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Austria ($1,163 per ton) and Russia ($1,108 per ton), while the price for Germany ($969 per ton) and Romania ($1,000 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+23.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pumpkin Exports in Turkey
In 2022, overseas shipments of pumpkin (squash and gourds) decreased by -5.1% to 104K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +43.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 109K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, pumpkin exports expanded remarkably to $73M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +51.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Pumpkin Imports in Turkey
In 2022, purchases abroad of pumpkin (squash and gourds) decreased by -25.5% to 94 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 128 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, pumpkin imports reduced to $98K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year.
