Pumpkin Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average pumpkin import price amounted to $928 per ton, which is down by -16.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 16% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,316 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Africa ($10,052 per ton), while the price for China ($353 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Syrian Arab Republic (+11.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Pumpkin Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average pumpkin export price amounted to $1,363 per ton, with a decrease of -18.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a noticeable setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 87% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,810 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($3,506 per ton), while the average price for exports to Iceland ($1,169 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+9.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Pumpkin Imports in the Netherlands

In 2022, the amount of pumpkin (squash and gourds) imported into the Netherlands rose remarkably to 99K tons, surging by 8% against the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 14%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, pumpkin imports expanded significantly to $102M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +14.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 26% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
