The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Spain (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of eggplant to the Netherlands, accounting for a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, eggplant imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), sevenfold.
