Price for Wool; (Not Carded or Combed), Carbonised in China (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for wool; (not carded or combed), carbonised stood at $6,140 per ton in December 2023, increasing by 4.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 52% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $9,201 per ton. From June 2023 to December 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Australia ($22,167 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($3,929 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+14.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average import price for wool; (not carded or combed), carbonised amounted to $7,457 per ton, surging by 33% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a mild downturn. The import price peaked at $9,904 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($7,574 per ton), while the price for New Zealand ($4,705 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 38%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 3K tons, and then contracted in the following year.

Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 75%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 813 tons, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, imports of wool; (not carded or combed), carbonised fell to $4.1M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last three-year period.
