In 2022, overseas shipments of electric shavers, hair-removing appliances and hair clippers decreased by -12.9% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after four years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded perceptible growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 123% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports of reached the peak figure at X units in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of electric shavers, hair-removing appliances and hair clippers reduced to $X in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 21%. Over the period under review, the global exports of hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

China dominates clippers structure, resulting at X units, which was near 70% of total exports in 2022. Germany (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 6.8% share, followed by the Netherlands (5%). The following exporters - Poland (X units), Hungary (X units), Indonesia (X units) and the United States (X units) - together made up 9.9% of total exports.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Indonesia (+45.7%), Poland (+39.4%), the Netherlands (+7.6%), Hungary (+6.7%), Germany (+5.0%) and the United States (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +45.7% from 2012-2022. While the share of China (+7.9 p.p.), Poland (+3.2 p.p.) and Indonesia (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest electric shavers, hair-removing appliances and hair clippers supplier worldwide, comprising 39% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 14% share of global exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with an 11% share.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 14%. Global imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

By contrast, Japan (-2.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of India (+4.6 p.p.), Germany (+3.7 p.p.), Hungary (+3.1 p.p.) and the Netherlands (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global imports from 2012-2022, the share of Japan (-2 p.p.) and the United States (-5.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest electric shavers, hair-removing appliances and hair clippers importing markets worldwide were Germany ($X), the United States ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together comprising 33% of global imports. Hungary, France, Japan, Poland, the UK, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Mexico, India and Brazil lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.
