In 2022, the average mica; powder import price amounted to $1,457 per ton, jumping by 46% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $1,555 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($2,570 per ton), while the price for India ($275 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average mica; powder export price stood at $289 per ton in 2022, falling by -3.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $366 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($853 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($85 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 54%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 745 tons, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
In value terms, mica; powder imports totaled $754K in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +54.4% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +25.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +95.6% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
