In November 2023, the average export price for wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses amounted to $977 per thousand litres, growing by 5.4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 11% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1.2 per litre in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to November 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($2.6 per litre), while the average price for exports to Germany ($626 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses stood at $0.5 per litre in 2022, with an increase of 7.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 33%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $0.9 per litre. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2.7 per litre), while the price for South Africa ($0.3 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+9.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Overall, imports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 83% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 234M litres, and then fell significantly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of wine; still, in containers holding more than 2 litreses fell significantly to $84M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +42.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $99M, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
