In August 2023, the average import price for steel, stainless; cold-drawn or cold-rolled, tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia amounted to $14,278 per ton, surging by 17% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 35% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $15,881 per ton. From April 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($88,896 per ton), while the price for India ($8,862 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+14.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for steel, stainless; cold-drawn or cold-rolled, tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia stood at $18,913 per ton in August 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. In general, export price indicated modest growth from December 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0% over the last eight months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, export price for steel, stainless; cold-drawn or cold-rolled, tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia increased by +25.3% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 49% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $29,710 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($67,093 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($10,252 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+34.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of steel, stainless; cold-drawn or cold-rolled, tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia decreased by -4.4% to 4K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +53.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 48%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 4.2K tons, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of steel, stainless; cold-drawn or cold-rolled, tubes and pipes of circular cross-sectia rose notably to $41M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
