Price for Vegetables; Celery (Other than Celeriac), Fresh or Chilled in China (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average export price for vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds amounted to $794 per ton, shrinking by -2.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 37% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,380 per ton. From May 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($1,657 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($597 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

For the fourth consecutive year, China recorded growth in overseas shipments of vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds, which increased by 2.3% to 25K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 2.6%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds rose remarkably to $23M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
