China's Mushroom and Truffle Market Witnesses 2% Increase in Prices, Reaching An Average of $1,711 per Ton
China Mushroom And Truffle Export Price in June 2023
In June 2023, the mushroom and truffle price amounted to $1,711 per ton (FOB, China), rising by 2.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 15% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $2,349 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the Netherlands ($2,146 per ton) and Malaysia ($2,099 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($1,549 per ton) and Vietnam ($1,556 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

China Mushroom And Truffle Exports
In June 2023, approximately 13K tons of mushrooms and truffles were exported from China; picking up by 2.9% compared with the month before. The total export volume increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9% over the period from June 2022 to June 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 with an increase of 17% against the previous month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 15K tons. From January 2023 to June 2023, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, mushroom and truffle exports expanded rapidly to $22M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2023. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9% from June 2022 to June 2023; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 when exports increased by 29% m-o-m.
China Mushroom And Truffle Exports by Country
Vietnam (4.3K tons), Thailand (3.9K tons) and Malaysia (1.5K tons) were the main destinations of mushroom and truffle exports from China, with a combined 75% share of total exports. Indonesia, the United States, the Netherlands and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the biggest increases were in Indonesia (with a CAGR of +12.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Vietnam ($6.7M), Thailand ($6.1M) and Malaysia ($3.1M) were the largest markets for mushroom and truffle exported from China worldwide, with a combined 72% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Indonesia, the United States, the Netherlands and Singapore, which together accounted for a further 17%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +9.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
