The average export price for spices; mixtures of 2 or more products of the same heading stood at $9,527 per ton in 2022, growing by 2.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 41% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $13,236 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($12,151 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($6,172 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the import price, however, saw a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 an increase of 47% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,837 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to January 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($2,975 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($974 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, exports of spices; mixtures of 2 or more products of the same heading from Brazil fell to 805 tons, reducing by -11.8% compared with 2021 figures.
