In September 2023, the average import price for spices except pepper or ginger amounted to $4,674 per ton, which is down by -5.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 21% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $5,563 per ton. From November 2022 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($9,606 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($2,808 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for spices except pepper or ginger stood at $4,819 per ton in September 2023, falling by -9.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 12% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $5,584 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($7,272 per ton), while the average price for exports to Jamaica ($1,839 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Spices Except Pepper or Ginger in the United States
